Image via CrunchBaseTonight, I’m desperate again to get my PayPal referral link because I will be assisting a client in signing up for a PayPal account so I tried to search the net again on how I can get my link. And I got the answer, finally! But the title of the blogpost saddened me. It says something about PayPal putting an end to its referral bonus program.
So I checked my own email for my PayPal account to see if I get the same notification and it’s confirmed. Here is the message I received from PayPal:
Thank you for your participation in PayPal’s Merchant Referral Bonus Program. The program will be discontinued on August 15, 2012.
Effective on August 15, 2012:
• New referrals will no longer be tracked
• Bonus accrual payments will be stopped
Your PayPal account will not in any way be impacted by the discontinuation of this program.
Any final accrued bonus balance from your referrals through August 15, 2012 will be paid to your PayPal account in accordance with the standard 30 day payout cycle.
All links you have created will still work and will redirect to a PayPal sign up page. However, referrals will not be tracked or accumulate toward this bonus program.
For further assistance, please go to our PayPal.com website and click the “Contact Us” link at the bottom of any PayPal page.

It was indeed sad news. It may not be that much, but still, it’s a passive income. But I’m grateful I had the chance to use it. Thank you, PayPal!

that why it's called "bonus". it was indeed sad news but at least you had a chance to become part of it.
ReplyDeleteYes, Sir Ed. I'm grateful :)
DeleteI did not know about this referral bonus program. I hope they have it back.
ReplyDeleteyes, te. i really hope they have it back.
Deleteoh, i'm also a paypal user but i never thought that they have this kind of program. It's sad coz it's already ended. :(
ReplyDeletetrue, arjay, it's sad. check the other applications/systems that you're using, they might have referral programs, too.
Deleteaw that sucks... I don't even know there is such a thing as a merchant referral bonus program in paypal... :(
ReplyDeleteyeah, romelo. too bad. check your other applications/systems, they might have referral programs, too, that you can use.
DeleteI am new at Paypal so I haven't know things yet. Maybe in the future. BTW, it's nice to see fellow Pinoy here. I am now following you through G+. I just shared my Clozette Fashion Finds on my blog. If you have a minute, I would love to hear your comment and maybe follow me? Thanks!
ReplyDeleteHi, Priscilla! I just added you to my G+, too. Visiting your blog now. Thank you for dropping by :)
DeleteSayang naman. Well, some good things just have to end. At least, you were able to make use of it while it lasted. =)
ReplyDeleteI will be getting a Paypal account anytime soon. Sayang I will not be able to experience the referral program. Passive income is still income :))
ReplyDeletei love having paypal.. sayang i didn't know about this promotion
ReplyDeleteToo sad the referral bonus program ended, I was quite a fan for sometime. Just like what YANI said, Passive income is still income, how small may it be.
ReplyDeleteThis is the reason why I have not seen the paypal referral link on my account because their merchant referral bonus has already ended.
